Course Policies
Attendance

Attendance is required. This course meets only once a week and so any missed class is a significant part of the course, equivalent to three absences in a class that meets once a week. If a class must be missed for job interview or medical reasons, students must either (a) notify the instructor by e-mail prior to the absence and receive approval for it or (b) present a written excuse from a physician. Since attendance is required and on-time arrival is requested, your final grade can also be affected by attendance and tardiness. In addition, your grade can be influenced by persistent personal Web surfing during class.

Posting Work

No inappropriate material may be placed on the Instructional Web server. Any student violating this policy will receive an F for the course.

As a guideline, think about how professional your work is and whether you want this work to be shared with other professionals such as prospective employers. If material seems questionable to the instructor, the material will be removed pending notification and review.

Plagiarism

The University of Iowa and this course do not tolerate plagiarism. Any material used in this course, whether in a Notebook or on a course project Web site, must be free of copied material or material used in violation of US and international copyright laws. Students who plagiarize can expect to receive an F for that work. See Policies Affecting Students, II. Student Responsibilities, A. Code of Student Life, General Conduct Regulations, 1. Academic misconduct.
